S2 Ep 3 –Jennie Shulkin

Chronic pain sufferers, rejoice! Override Health is revolutionizing the game with virtual pain rehabilitation.

Welcome to "Who the Health Started That?", the podcast where we explore the people and ideas that are revolutionizing the healthcare industry. In this episode, we interview Jennie Shulkin, founder and CEO of Override Health, a virtual pain rehabilitation center. Override Health offers a team-based approach to chronic pain management, bringing together chronic pain specialists in pain medicine, physical therapy, and behavioral health to provide comprehensive care to patients everywhere.

Jennie, who is the daughter of two physicians, co-founded Override Health with her father. Her personal experience with complex chronic pain syndrome, which started after two concussions in college, inspired her to create a better system of care for patients like herself who often get sent away with no real solutions. Override Health's interdisciplinary team approach, with each patient receiving individualized care from a pain medicine doctor, a physical therapist, a psychologist, and a coach who all work together as a team, is a significant deviation from the standard of care today.

Jennie's experience with chronic pain and the lack of resources available to patients with conditions like fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome, spinal cord injuries, or pain from Lyme disease, led her to create a place where she and others could receive the help they needed. Override Health's solution fills a gap in the fragmented system of care that is chronic pain management traditionally.

Tune in to this episode to learn more about Jennie Shulkin's personal journey with chronic pain, how Override Health is changing the game in chronic pain management, and the future of virtual healthcare.
